Senior Housing Update: At the August 12 Township Committee meeting, Mr. Frank Olivo, an attorney for Steven Waszen Jr. asked the Township Committee Members to consider allowing some type of senior housing development on the property along the White Horse Pike in the Elwood Village Center. There was considerable discussion among the committee, and the residents in attendance. The main issues centered around preserving the rural nature of the community and the economic benefits this type of development could potentially bring to the Township. This matter will be explored further at future meetings. Please keep in mind that no decision has been made, nor has an application for such a development been made to the Planning Board. This is just a request made to gauge the receptiveness of the community to this type of development. The governing body will explore this issue fully, and further updates will be posted on our website.

Township Committee introduced the 2008 Muncipal Budget at the March 11 Township Meeting. The introduced budget contains a tax increase of 8.8 cents, due to the 26% cut in State Aid. Mullica Township lost over $207,000 in funding, which represents approximately 7 cents on our tax rate. Township officials are currently identifying areas that will be targeted for budget cuts should the Governor's budget be approved by the legislature. A budget hearing on the 2008 Municipal Budget was held on April 22, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at townhall. A copy of the introduced budget may be viewed by clicking here.
