Zoning is utilitized to ensure that property owners may use their property without infringing on the property use of their neighbors.  Planning and Zoning of property allows the township to regulate where different type of development can take place.

The Construction Department is responsible for the review and issuance of permits as they relate to all types of construction.  Obtaining a permit is soley the responsiblity of the homeowner, not the contractor.  When a contractor secures the permit, they are responsible for their work.  The construction office is responsible for the review of the permit application and review of the blue prints submitted to ensure that they comply with all applicable codes of the State of New Jersey.

Permits are generally required for anyone who constructs, repairs, alters, moves, demolishes or changes occupancy of a building or structure.

A permit is generally required to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, or convert or replace any gas, mechanical or plubming system.
